An implant is a titanium "root" which can be placed into the jawbone. Once integrated with your bone, the implant can be used to support a crown, a bridge, or secure a complete denture. Dental implants may be used to eliminate partial plates and dentures. The success rates for dental implants are extremely high which is due in part to the fact that root-form implants are made of a biocompatible material, titanium.
Two types of dentures are available, complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Partial dentures include metal clasps or other attachments, which hold the denture in place whereas complete dentures are secured using adhesive or implants.
A bridge is made up of two or more crowns and is attached using the teeth on either side of the gap. The anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and hold the bridge in place. Dental bridges can use natural teeth or implants to be held in place.
